An-My Le

This artist is very different and unique than the previous artist that we were shown today. Her interest was in the military and the structure of how it was run. She explains that she was interested in how the military was run and after the Vietnam War, she wanted to expose what war and the military side was all about. She traveled to various military demonstrations and reenactments to show a point of view of war that most people are not exposed to and through her photographs, she captures the and leaves rooms for personal interpretation of what is going on in the photograph. Le is not opposed to war but she feels as though there should be an alternative to war for the hardships of the men and women that go into to military is tremendous and should not have to happen anymore.

Robert Adams

Robert Adams is a man who passion is not only as a photographer and capturing landscapes of various settings in different points of time, he is a realist and one that knows nature and the bare essentials of life. Adams discusses his photographs as one of a kind, suggesting that one can never re-take a landscape photo for the beauty and the shire nature of the land, water, and the air are constantly moving and changing creating a very different and unique form of their own. He also talks about his childhood and how he was raised to cut wood and nail things together. It is the simple things in life that really bring out the essence and best out of people and help you realize the beauty that is front you. People just need to slow down and take a look.

How the West Was Won

The music video that we watched today was very powerful and moving with the lyrics and images portrayed. The story was how the west was born and from the creators view, the west was created on war. There were images of bombings, buildings being destroyed, weapons of mass destruction and later a clip of a helicopter chasing down a buffalo. This symbolizes the manifest destiny that American's have on taking control of the west and expanding and destroying nature as well as the Indian culture. I feel as though the message was very settle yet very overwhelming at the end of the video. It really shows the Native American's point of view on what is happening in our culture and how it is affecting everything else around us. If only there was a solution to help those and things that was once there before the west was won.
